I started fishing in Slovenia and caught many different spiecies of fish. In the past i haven't managed to get it together to make a record of my fishing adventures. So i started this on the 12th May 2003. As a brit living in Slovenia i had troubles trying to explain, to my father, what fish i had caught as i only knew the names in slovenian, after surfing the net and getting not so much info on slovenian / english names i made my own. I must stress that i live in the Maribor region of Slovenia and some of the slovenian names are not the same in all regions of slovenia.
I have found referance to the indiginous speicies in slovenia and have marked them with a '*' Talking to some local fishermen and hunters i think some of the fish marked have long been gone, due mainly to the building of hydro electric damns on the main rivers.
